I am the Yankee who started this post!!!
Down here in south Puget Sound all I can get are 15 inchers. In the mid-sound they can increase to just over legal size (22 inches) plus alot just under that size. Whenever I can get up to north Puget Sound they seem to get bigger, and out in the straits I can usually get a really nice one every now and then. But in 5 years of trying I have never caught a winter blackmouth over 5 pounds down here in the south end.
Maybe the straits have a percentage of 3 year fish while these down here are all 2 year olds?? Don't know, but I sure do better the farther north I go.
