Wanted : free or cheap outboard

Due to my recent issues with my kicker it's become apparent I don't know much about the motors getting me from a to b and I'd like to learn what I can.
Does anyone have a free or cheap outboard project sitting around for a newbie to tinker on?
I'm located in Victoria but can go pretty much anywhere on the island.

Also interested in resources or courses one could take to at least become competent in repairing outboards.

Got an '85 Johnson 9.9 you can have if you want to come up to Courtenay. Still started easy and ran well two years ago when I last ran it. Has some issues but pushed me around in my old boat for 3yrs. Bought a new boat and got a new kicker with it, so it's been collecting dust and the wife has been bugging me to get rid of it.
