When I was a kid we would nite fish off a dock; Black Cod were (along with Rat fish) common.

Guys in Alaska sport fish and charter guys out for black cod. I think theres a few videos hanging around on youtubeI watched years ago. They were using electric reels and manual reels. Fishing 1800ft.
