I run mr3's.
What do you use for a mainline on your reels?

200 yds of 30 lb dacron fly backing
300 yds of 30 lb braid
40 yds of 25 lb mono

Fits nicely on MR3 spool.

150 yds of fly backing 25-30lb
350 yds of 60lb braid
2 rod lengths of 25lb mono top shot
for keeping it in the release clips

I use 30-40 lb mono and a 20-25 lb mono leader for my hoochies and spoons. On the second year, I reverse the line then replace it the following year.

as much 25lb mono as the reel will hold

The reason for the fly backing is because mono shrinks when it dries. There is a fear that if the mono is wound tightly all the way to the base of the spool it may crack the alum. Probably more relevant for plastic reels than machined alum...but thats the reason.

Any brands to stay away from

Search is your friend, lots on this subject.

#25 lb Big Game Solar. Brands to avoid would be those in Cdn Tire/ Wally World that you have never heard of.

30lb Maxima UltraGreen.. Although the hi-vis pink looks pretty sharp ... (Bet Derby and Pippen are both running the hot pink) [emoji12] i will stick with UG ,30 Lb , i run 25lb UG leader..
