Does anyone know how the fishing was at Stuart Island this year. That was where we used to go years ago for the big fish but haven't heard much about it for a long time. Is there still a lodge there ? Saltspringer

I was there in mid-July this year. Fishing was pretty good compared to the previous few times I've been in the area. Salmon and ling cod were fairly plentiful. Someone in our group even caught a 30 pound halibut. I was there in 2016 for a few days and didn't get a bite. I've stayed at Denham Bay Resort in 2016 which I would recommend. You bring your own food and cook in a fabulous shared kitchen that is open-sided looking out over Cordero Channel. The cottages are very comfortable and the owners are extremely nice and helpful.
