Question, 3 years ago was the MASSIVE Fraser River sockeye run. The year prior the numbers were hardly worth mentioning. It was a hot summer that year, could this have played a part in the following years 35 Million + numbers?

Is it likely fish will hold for another year in the salt if the river conditions aren't adequate for spawning?

always wondered that....FB

No Good availiable food sources, good ocean survival

Just back from C.C.
3 days ago it was hot - many limits. We were there yesterday at daybreak and boated 5. Today we brought home 8 total but fishing was not so hot as had been the case earlier. About 80 boats on the water.

would u guys come over next week or wait till the following week u think for hottest fishing?

Well the siene opening is the 25th so id go before then or wait a few days til they are done. The fishing will defintely slow fora few days after the opening, but will pick back up shortly after.

Second that it stinks worse than my pits after six days of camping. We have only seen one sucker fish jump so far this morning.

Fished from first light. Fished from dunsmuir to nahmint...and back again. Still on the water. Not a single hit, and never saw a fish on anywhere! :(

It is slowish.
Fished last night for 2 hours, and this morning for 1 1/2. 3 for 4 last night, 1 for 1 today.
Had to come in for work!
Heading back.
Shallow rods got all 4 fish, and dad's old secret tie up got 2 of them.
Smiley.

anyone else waiting patiently for the first pictures of the Alberni run!? Lets see some green!

Hi folks, can someone explain in a civil way what the tsu-ma-uss economic opportunity fishery is? Also for the Maanulth domestic harvest.... how many people does that supply? thanks. Just curious....

Was going to head to China Creek next week from 26-30th... sounds like slim pickings so far and the commies will be there to clean up what's left. Same thing happened to me last year when I went! Maybe have to change plans next year

Was out this morrning from dunsmuir to the narrows and not even a stike and never seen a single net out, fished from 5-9 am there was a whole lot boats out for no fish.

Out again this am, fished narrows to Lone Tree. Plenty of boats, never saw a single net out nor any jumpers.
Sounder was empty except for those weird deep echos, as usual.
NOT Smiley.

The economic opportunity fishery allows first nations to sell their catch, there is a buyer from vancouver (can't confirm just from what I heard) that sets up at clutesi marina every summer that buys alot of their catch. Hence why their catch number is so large, all the sockeye are going straight for the river right into gill nets for the time being.

Is there a limit to how many they can keep during a season? 76,000 for mid/late june seems like alot when the run hasn't even peaked yet.

In the last two days we trolled from first light until approx noon. From dunsmers to Namint and back. In all that time I saw One fish on the Line... Unfortunately it was not our lines.

If your not hitting them Islandgirl, there probably just heading straight into the gill nets on the river. Check the side of the road you will probably be more productive.;) eman
