Home hardware carries them. The one I use has 2 probes, 1 for the box temperature and one that you stick in what ever your are smoking. It has 2 units, 1 sits on your smoker or bbq with wires connected to the probes and this unit broadcasts to the remote unit. I have my smoker outside the front door and the signal seems to work fine to the unit inside the house. You can set alarms on them for box temp or the internal temp of your meat/fish. Mine is a Maverick, they are more expensive than the baseline units but I have had mine for nine years--still going strong. Works great on pulled pork or brisket. Sounds like we may have to have a SFBC bbq--except we can't talk about hali regs!

if you have a home built one of these might work. then when you see from your couch (lol) your temp has dropped you dont even have to go turn on your burner. http://www.littlegreenhouse.com/accessory/controls.shtml one at bottom of page with probe can go up to 220F
