Seastar Tournament Steering Ram Problems

Anybody have issues with this model of steering ram for outboards? I Have been losing steering power lately and have to continue turning the wheel to hold a turn. Can also move the outboard side to side by hand. Have bled the entire system and no change. Also sounds like seastar had problems with this ram and issued a bulletin. Anyone have issues and did seastar replace it? Cheers

If your thinking it's the piston inside the ram getting blowby, then you could disconnect the lines and cap it off. If you can move the ram back and forth at that point there then that should tell you of the Poston seals have blowby.

How old is it?

Assuming you have 2 helms? Any other components? Auto pilot?

Ya it’s a common problem apparently with this specific ram, valve cracks inside. Contacted Seastar which is now owned by Dometic in Vancouver and sounds like they will send me a replacement. So hopefully that will pan out. Good customer service if it does.
