Scrap or buy old used motor

hey guys,

Trying to figure out what to do with the old family boat. The head gasket blew on the old two stroke and mechanic says it's done, which it probably is.

The boat itself is an older campion 19 foot centre-console has a pretty dicey transom which we recently reinforced with a metal piece. Some of the wood framing on the seats is also rotting out.In other words will probably not get too many more years on it but then again we don't use it all that much...

Moving forward I figure we have two options:

A - get a new/old used boat and sell/scrap current boat. For this what would you suggest as the best way to get some money back for the boat and trailer and engine parts?

Or

B - re-rig with an older used motor that still works? For this any tips, or ideas as to how much it would cost to get the outboard and controls rigged up? It needs an outboard with something in the 85-115 hp range.

What would you guys suggest?

Cheers for the help.

Depends on whether or not the current boat size/style meets needs. If you get a different engine, you could move that engine to a newer hull, but only a hull that needs 85-155 hp.
If external wood is rotting, the floor/stringers are gone or going.

I'd probably get rid of this whole rig. Value is limited due to the issues you list.
