Scotty DR motor

Not a boat or trailer issue however wondering about my Scotty electric motor brushes.

My motor is intermittent and if I tap the motor it will start up so thinking it is the brushes. Can the motor brushes be replaced or can the motor be taken apart for a look? Looks like I possible need to grind off a couple rivets to access.

Take or send it to Scotty in Sidney or find a local in your area that works on them. Should be all warranty work and be done for free, at Scotty anyways. Your local guy may charge you a small fee but will replace everything that is not working. They charge me $20 per rigger in Hardy

Thanks for that info. I have done this before on Scotty's that I purchased new. In this case I bought it used a number of years ago so that's why I am fiddling with it. I'm pretty good with electric motors and figure I could replace the brushes and clean up if only I could crack it open.

If it persists I will take it in to a shop.
