SALMON OUTLOOK 2009!! (Northern Vancouver Island)

I have been away from the coast for the winter. What are people saying about salmon for this summer? What's the word down on the docks? What do the old timers have to say?

Bring on the predictions and projections.

I'm predicting a banner year. A season to remember. A Chinook for some and Pinks for everyone.

Captain no fun, I think this year you will finally have some fun! The word on the street is that this is going to be a better year than last. The winter spring fishing was solid, and the fish larger than normal. This is usually a good indicator of what we will see in the summer. I also know that the commercial boys did really good on the few short openings that they did have, and one guy even brought in a 30 pounder, not to shaby for winter chinook!

Springs are already showing up, some got there limit on nice springs last weekend, rumor mill is that there will be a sport soceye openings this year,
