New to freshwater fishing

Hi everyone and happy new year. I would love to catch a nice trout or steelhead. I live just outside Ucluelet. Anyone able to point me in the right direction as to rivers or lakes. I do not have a boat or waders. TIA

Hire a guide. Fish the Stamp or Cowichan rivers.

Once the weather warms up and Kennedy Lake water levels drop, find your way down to the mouth of Thunderoos Creek ( used to be called Thunderass!) There’s a trail about 300 meters east of where the creek goes under the highway.
You will need waders and trail could be rough. Used to get great fly fishing there but hardware such as Crocs and Mepps Spinners do the job also.
An easier place to fish is at the Kennedy Lake boatramp - there’s as Creek that comes down there also.
