Why do inboards scare me? Should a novice look more towards inboards or out boards?
Tony

It really doesn't matter it matters how much there maintained and is personally preference I have inboard and love it. That one there is an old boat but looking at leg not an old drive would be interesting to look... Its a lot of boat though...May be a money pit..then again what boat isn't... it still is fairly old and would be concerned on stringers etc.

One thing to keep in mind is that your maintenence costs will be completely unrelated to your purchase price. If you're looking at a $3000 boat you need to remember that it probably cost ten times that much just for the hull, and you could easily run into repairs costing many thousands of dollars. If you choose to ditch the boat and get another inexpensive one you'll soon encounter the same issue.
Eventually if you decide you want to spend time on the water you're going to need to spend some money on a reliable engine/drive
