Just wanted to give a big thank you to the driver of the Island Outfitters boat on Friday morning who spotted the grounded boat on Bentick island and called it in. It turned out to be three people who had lost power the previous night and hit a rock then were blown ashore , they spent the night on the island and the boat was beaten to death on the shore.They did not have cells or a vhf.The boat was really tucked in , so good eye!
It turned out well with the auxiliary Coast Guard taking the cold and wet people in to Pedder Bay and I dug out and patched the vessel , refloated it and hightailed it back to Victoria with a 2 inch pump going full blast.The owner will be picking it up today.
Good end to a story that could have turned out a lot differently .
