Ice in Port Hardy

Cove Fisheries is the easiest and the best. They are beside the sea plane base. $10 for a 100l+ cooler and they will bring the ice to you so you fill your cooler. Good people to deal with.

Totally agree Ken. We used them for years. We made a habit of calling first, to make sure they were not unloading a large commercial boat, so they had time to help us out.

We’ve always used Hardy Buoys but our last trip up, they only had enough for 1.5 coolers. A little bummed, turns out they get their ice from…Celtic (that’s what it sounded like anyways). But we could try bear cove also. Definitely worth calling ahead of time.

Is it salt ice or regular fresh water?

If you’re going thru Campbell River on the way, there is chip ice (not salt ice) at Boatland. They close at 6pm but often have a lad there after that to sell ice.
In June We filled 2 x100qt coolers for $10!

We would have been too late in to get ice in port Hardy.
