Halibut spots in Renfrew (Not the Bank)

I'm going up to Renfrew from July 22 thru 25th with my son and don't feel comfortable taking my boat out to the bank.
Is there spots along the coast where we could drift and have a chance of catching Halibut?
Or should we just stick to trolling for Salmon?

A safe drift would be along the flats of Sombrio, the water there is FLAT compared to the bank. OTherwise, the flats near Carmanah are the same, however, some of the fishiest spots of the bank are 9 miles from Carmanah, so if you run all the way there, you may as well run out.

I have caught halibut trolling for chinook at camper creek. Not sure if it happens much.

Have fished up toward the Lighthouse the name of which escapes me didn't catch anything as the tide was poor but I'm sure there are a few around.

There is San Juan Lighthouse on the east side of the bay, some flatties have come from there but more incidental then anything. Carmanah to the west and Sombrio to the east are fishier.
