Floor covering ideas

Hi all, I spent a bit of time sitting in my 206 double eagle today. Gonna start pulling out gunwales and the transom cover tomorrow and gutting all the wiring and Old Volvo steering and rigging. The boat has the blue vinyl on the floor and in the gunwales and has some rips in the traffic areas. My plan was to pull it all out and replace it with the same product only in a gray then put some rubber back removable carpet over top. Just wondering About some other options like kiwi grip or the like? My last double eagle I just replaced the vinyl cuz I wasn’t sure how a role one floor would last and the amount of prep needed to the floor once vinyl is up. Any info and pics would be really appreciated. Thanks guys!

You could consider having the inside of your boat Rhino-Liner’d. I had my DE done with that stuff, it’s durable, pretty much non-skid, and easy to clean. If you’ve had a pickup truck with that product sprayed in the box, you know how tough it is. I had it sprayed on the floors, up the insides and under the gunnels, selected areas of the topside, and the interior fibreglass side panels as well. Comes in any colour you want. No regrets.

That looks amazing and I think that’s my answer. I guess a good sand and a de grease would be needed. If ya don’t mind me asking what did that run ya cost wise? Thanks for the info

It wasn’t exactly cheap...but the Rhino-Liner should last a VERY long time, and as a result - it’ll be cost-effective.

The guy that did the job on my 1977 17.5 DE charged $1500, but that was a few years ago, so by now you’d probably be looking at somewhere around that price to do just the inside of your boat, likely more if you wanted some extra topside coverage.

if you decide to go this route, make sure to ask the installer exactly what you need to do to properly prep for the install, and then do it - the more you do, the less the installer needs to do...and that always makes the job less expensive. I prepped my boat in accordance with all of his instructions, and the spray job was done in a day.

I sprayed the Upol Raptor liner in my truck box. It turned out awesome and was a very easy do-it yourself project. The product comes in an all in one kit and can be ordered in various colors. There are tons of YouTube videos worth watching. After three years the Raptor liner still looks great. I think it would make for a great floor covering in a boat.

Did raptor liner on my truck bottom foot and bed box of it 4 litres was 160$ with the spray gun
@ rondex in nanaimo, if you don't want a super thick texture ask them to sell you some thinner for that product (can't remember the name of it )
And make sure you mask and tape off anything in a 30 foot vicinity that you don't want it on.
