hi, going to try the Columbia for a few days 3rd week in April. Staying in Castlegar. Looking for some advice and what to expect for water levels, patterns, techniques etc. that time of year. couple of boats floating, one jet, so can go both directions. Advice for walleyes too?

thanks.

If you are fly fishing, check out the Sport Fishing on the Fly website, or Kootenay Fly Fishing.com site. April is a great time to go, the river should be in great shape with the low snowpack.

Used to live in Castlegar years ago.Should be a good number of Rainbows still around from the late winter/early spring
spawn that migrate up from Lake Washington south of the border.Late April is a little early for the walleye that also
migrate up from there.June is usually the best time for them.Above the Selgar Dam in Arrow Lake is great Kokanee
and Bull Trout fishing but you'd need a boat to do very well there. You can shore cast but it can be slow.Take into
concideration that this was back in the early 90's when I was there.Couldn't say for sure how the fishing would be now,
but have heard it's still good.Hope this helps.
