Now that is certainly a HOG!!! There were some Large around down south this summer as well, although not quite that large that is! Our best for August was 62 and change. It was nailed down by a 16 year old, his tail ain't stopped waggin' ever since! In the pix, the two fella's on the left are both over 240 lbs, and the Kid is 6'3"... you get the idea: http://gallery.fishbc.com/albums/Tracks/60lbs_2.jpg
Also a handfull of those HUGE squid around. Might just have to start a Derby on those bad boyz <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> Here's one from off Tofu: http://gallery.fishbc.com/albums/Tracks/BigSquid_2.jpg
Now lookin' forward to the impending rush of steel! Thanks for the pix! Certainly a WOWSER!!
A 62!!! is a very nice slab indeed !!!Great shot, i'm drooling over both now...Nothing that big dowwn Sooke or Renfrew way this year that i know of...Not me anyhow. Thanks MD
It came up on a hootchie/blade combo! Same area, we had several suckers come up, and even a beak, sans the rest of the critter. Apparently they are a warm water species that moved up here with the increase in ocean temps this summer. Saw two last year caught by others, and heard of a few tagged down off Washington. On the good side, they tasted GREAT! On the down-side, they are known aggressive predators, that might perhaps become a problem for some of our local species...
Should have seen the luminescent display running all over it when it came up! Very Cool!!
Just finished a couple of pint's with one of the top rod's at Peregrine, confirmed on the 71.5,( beit another rookie guide took the honours) but the size lg. were far and few this past season.
My last two seasons at Peregrine held 104 fish over 50 in 01' and 106 in '02. Now those were fests. He said this last season did not even come close. Sign of the times I'm afraid.-dirty
Stupid rookies, eh Dirty? *lol* Always hooking up the hawgs. Ah well. It's been too long since we lifted a pint together - let's get our acts together! I know, I know, I take most of the blame for it... just haven't found time to get out to the island yet. This year! C'mon, fish!
