I have tried them all from ez- steer to tr1 gold and they all had their downsides. The system Wolf describes is the most positive and bulletproof way to do it and I would take him up on his offer to check it out.
I'm just finishing installing a new TR1 on my new boat I really like them. Not only easy to steer but you can rig gear or fight a fish and you boat stays on track!
