Annoucement of Protest Outside Fisheries Minister's office May 1 from 12 to 1 PM

that was useless, how many french speaking canadians do they think would be at the protest on the west coast.. tough to even find francophones in Mallardville these days.
I think it's great because this will be something that'll be running in other parts of the country continuing to draw attention to the issue.

Both CBC TV and Global TV have confirmed they will have the protest on there 6 pm news cast tonight. CBC will actually be on at 7 with hockey playoffs pushing it back an hour

Lots of Francophones in Ottawa, one of which is the PM!
Unfortunately that Prime Minister wouldn't do a damn thing that affects the first Nations on the Frazer, ESPECIALLY after his SNC debacle and Jody Wilson-Raybold affair!

Great turn out. Was more than happy to skip out on work to support this protest!

Really feel for the families, communities and anybody effected by this ******** closure.

Heads need to roll with this closure....

Big thanks to all those that organized this event! More protest like this need to happen.

I feel this has been tragically overlooked in the media! we need to start local and have the tidal wave start to spread from there. Even social media outlets like Daily Hive, CKNW ect ect. We should be spamming them to not just report the event of a protest but get them to force Minister Wilkonson to answer our TOP questions directly! (no Kelly Ann Conway//Trump like answers) WE HAVE TO CONTROL THE MESSAGE not the politicians that are trained in diversion! Lets get Wilkinson on the hot plate!

Well if you’re waiting for a politician to do the right thing, just because it’s the right thing,it’s going to be a very long wait. Now threatening their chances of re election seems to work at least sometime. We have to keep hammering our points to them, and not get discouraged or underestimate our influence. It’s that or throw in the towel.

HAHAHA! I just got a spam call from the Liberals asking if they can count on my support this fall. Perfect timing and I politely told her why I disagree with their DFO and Ministerial policies regarding the west coast fishery. She just wanted off the phone to call someone else but I wanted her to hear that this is an issue!

Watched the Global B.C. coverage of the protest and I am underwhelmed and not surprised. Good on Jason Tonelli for being able to get our point across as best he could in a 20 second sound bite. Still have not heard back from Rachel Blaney after pointing out for the second time that the sport fishery impact on those stocks of concern are less than 1%. She seems to be supportive of the recreational fishery, but with the NDP focus on SRKW, it might be a hard go. She showed up at my door last election and commented on what a lovely home and acreage I had. If I had been on the ball, I would have said it was all paid for by sportfishing!

We need to push the point more effectively that the DFO is lying. Best case scenario they are ignoring the science. The media needs to make THAT the story.

And what the **** guys hardly anyone came and said hi! I was the only guy surrounded by guys wearing Rain City t-shirts lol. Nice to meet the guys that did introduce themselves.

Thanks to the organizers and those who showed up. Unfortunately I’m out of town for work today and tomorrow and wasn’t able to attend.
I agree with other guys that we should not stop here. We should organize a similar rally in Victoria and then repeat this again in Vancouver. The more we shed light on DFO’s political BS, it’s going to get more media attention. This is an election year guys. We should use this to prove DFO’s incompetency and make this transparent to the public. We shouldn’t be taken advantage of in behind- the-door dealings between the feds and FNs.
I don’t personally have a beef in the industry and this is just my favorite way of spending time with friends and family while out in our beautiful outdoors. But I really feel for the guys and families who have been impacted by the fkn politicians who are sitting 5,000 miles away in Ottawa and don’t even respect their own science. This is a shame!
