All Things COVID-19

you’re not offside. Your logical.
I don't think you're offside neither, GS - BUT... we do need to be well down the other side of this outbreak before that happens. Hospitals, cruise ships, nursing homes and other confined spaces with elderly and immuno-compromised people are particularly "at risk" if they get COVID-positive patients in infecting people.....

I wouldn't bank on elective happening too soon. I work actively with Fraser, Interior and Vancouver Coastal in my line of work. They are still in a holding pattern until Bonnie states otherwise.

We are flattening......but far from out of the woods.

Define "out of the woods."

I’d sure like to see the curve a lot flatter than it is now and then things can start to loosen up

There are reports saying distancing due to this pandemic could last 2 years. I live on a plane 3 weeks a month travelling around the US. I have cancelled meetings looking to book on 2021.

People are shrugging this off as "hmmmmmmf" , but we are in this for a while even if they start to open things up.

As a province we are doing well for rates versus the national average of recovery; we have almost 2/3rds versus the national average of about 1/3td.

Could you imagine if they put off elective surgery’s for another 6 months what it will do to the system.

I hope it does not last that long have a Bud who’s waiting for a knee surgery.

I did hear tho they were hopeful about end of May for getting some things going.

It’s interesting trying to figure out when stuff will be back. They were talking in the news about not having sports and stuff back to 2022.

If we stay in a decline for the next two week I have a feeling pressured really going to start to build to get some stuff going.

We really need mass testing for antibodies in order to move forward on a plan to get things going again. Then we can have an understanding of social transmission geographically, and the sooner the better.

I still have some friends that are going to work in downtown Vancouver in offices that have 50-100 people in them.

There is a donair place by my work that has a line up of people every lunch time. Meanwhile all the competition around is closed.

It’s really odd why some are closed and others are open.

When I went and got an oil change for my work truck. 2/3 of the guys at the shop we’re laid off. The other guy working their said his house were cut so much we would make more if they just laid him off.

I have another friend that works in a material supply company. They have had to shut down plants because they can’t get parts from the US or get the specialist electricians they need for repairs. Once they are out of inventory it’s goong to have extreme downstream effects.

I’m sure this is just a few of the 1000s of story’s out their.

Frankly I don’t think this can all go on for months

Seems to be many double edged swords in terms of covid responses. Mandatory no evictions which makes landlords hesitate to take on a new tenant. High rates of government payments making it attractive for some to not work. Take out food. There are many scenarios.
Looking at the current leveling of the curve, which Im not necessarily willing to accept as success yet, I feel that it is good to have people out there working in different scenarios. This will allow us to collect information on viral transmission routs. This is a good thing particularly if individuals are still isolating at home after work. Anyway while we see things that look bad in terms of isolating this virus I think good can come of it as long as those vulnerable are protected. Nothing will be ideal in the months ahead. Its nice to know the whole world is working on this issue!
