Adding a tiller handle T9.9

I'm putting the tiller handle from a T8 on a T9.9, a mechanic confirmed it was possible. Anyone done it?

I hope you are working with new or near new parts.
Castle nut on the end of the arm may shear off! A special spanner may fit it?
the cables go thru two ninety degree angles, so if old will crack and get rusty quickly.
