Bluefin Tuna Washes Up On Orcas Island's East Sound -

Orcas Island is known for odd visitors from the wildlife world – a pair of bull elk, a bear – but what apparently washed ashore overnight may take the cake.

At least two boats went out of Westport, WA Wednesday (12th). One ran 63+ miles west and 176 miles total for 6 fish. The other blanked. Some are here, but y’all may have to wait a bit longer to make it worth the run. This was their ocean though…. Then it finally laid down.

Heading up to Esperanza next week to fish for salmon and halibut. Couldn't help but take a peak at Terrafin (July 18th shot) and noticed the 62 degree water about 35 miles offshore. Worth a shot if the weather is good or dreaming this early in the season? Might just pack the tuna tackle just in case but would love some insight from members with more experience than me on early season tuna this far north.

Royal Viking may be a siegner but he is off Nootka with another fishing vessel un-named. Probably too close in for tuna but it will be worth watching over the coming weeks to see them zero in on some schools

I’ll be in Tofino w the boat on a trailer from the 17th to the 24th. Mostly salmon fishing but if the forcast looks good I’ll bring the tuna gear!

I will be in Ucluelet aug 21-25. I am planning on a run out for tuna ( weather premiering). I would prefer to go with a buddy boat as well.

Inlet Hunter and I had a fun day 40 miles off WH. Only 9 hooked up and 7 to the boat but pretty happy for July. Saw no other boats out
