Fish are stuck in the mouth of the low water in most rivers. By the time we get rain, most of them will be dark and ready to spawn or worse won't even make it to the spawning ground. We are enjoying the sun and no rain but is devastating for fish.
Many friends are doing great fishing in the main rivers. Is it possible it is the streams and creeks that are having trouble?

In my opinion, bigger rivers on the mainland or Island like Camble River, Vedder, or Harrison will be ok. Smaller rivers/creeks like Oyster or the ones that are strictly controlled by a dam like the Cap are the ones that will suffer. Hope I'm totally wrong about that.

Anyone having luck at the cap or Sandheads? Considering one last fish (before December!) tomorrow..
I fished SH this morning from 7:45 to noon. One dogfish and a few other small hits. I didnt see a net being used. We did see quite a few jumpers but I couldnt see what they were. One of the jumpers looked pretty dark. The US guys either FN or commercial are out at Pt Roberts area seining for chums again so I thought maybe we could get into a few chums but no luck for us today. Was the last day for me this year until the new year winter chinook fishing.

My good fishing friend from Gibson visited me yesterday. We couldn’t resist not fishing so drop the boat once again and fished Ambleside. Right before the tide change, hundreds of coho started jumping. Hooked 4 massive coho all wild so went back in. Both spoon and bait worked in 90’ and 75’ on the rigger. Crabbing was surprisingly fantastic.

Great final day on the chuck yesterday. 11am-5pm, started at the cap for the flood - saw the coho aerial show but no takers. Saw one boat circle the school with a a guy on the stern trying to net them (boat name TyLee)...

Moved over to Cowan and hooked into 4: 2 coho (1 hatch) and 2 Chum (kept a chromer). All hits on the top rod (30ft) on chovies.

Stoked for winter season!

No need to put the boat away yet. Still fish to be had out there. Played numerous fish today. Kept two nice hatch Cohos. And bonus if a few Dungeness for dinner!

Some nice early mornings in Westvan, huge schools of coho teasing everyone, very picky fish some days it's bait, hoochie at a fast 3-4mph or a coho killer short leaders, quite a few on the surface 15' on the rigger 30' line out.. changing speeds, some very chrome ones out there, enjoyed a pan seared one last night just melt like butter...

Picture of the year right there, coho jumping with a freighter in the backdrop. Nice work.
