Nice day at sandheads. Fished in the Firemans derby and thought we had a contender with what turned out to be a 27lber but a 43lb monster ended up dwarfing all others this year. Fun times as always and great work by the organizers once again. We ended up with 3 springs and a couple hatch coho and a Sox for our efforts. All on chovies and herring 50-60ft.

Where was the 43 caught? That's a hell of a fish.

Caught down south or at the Cap?

They found it in 450'off the sandheads. I was in the derby too, ended up with a beauty 20.6lbs that was good for 10th. $700 milkita tool set for my efforts which is awesome. Well done to all!

BTW sandheads was good to us, 1 boated and 2 nice springs went back for yall to bonk haha. Oh and sox all over the place.

By the way that hog today bested the previous top fish by 10 lbs!

Man that’s an awesome fish!

We had a couple of big bites at first light Sandheads, boated one, straightened a hook on the other, ouch
Scratchy the rest of the day, bite here bite there, and softer bites that didn’t all stick. All on bait 40-70, didn’t try for sox.
Really fun day with a bunch of protein for the freezer :)
