Just a heads up, I ran down from roberts creek today and there is an unprecedented level of debris so be very careful. Some very large and nasty deadhead and mostly submerged logs off sw bowen and other tidal flushes to Howe sound. It's like this until past Davis Bay or so. Safe travels.

I saw first report from Pacific Angler today on Instagram with first West Van coho.
A question to experienced Coho specialists. Is it hard to catch them around noon and evening slacks? I'm aware that Coho bite is hot till 9 AM.
Just having hard time waking up, also could be cool to go out after work to evening bite.

I've caught Coho at all hours. Tide matters more than time of days, in my personal experience. Would love to hear what others say though

I like Fisheries Stn and the Dunderave flats for the last two hours of the ebb and then move east on the flood. I’ve had nice productive evenings down there and it’s a lovely time to fish. Not as many boats and it’s just such a nice time to be on the water as the day cools off.

Enviro Canada is forecasting NW 5-15 winds for Thurs, Fri and Sat. When I check windy for chop on those 3 days, I get 0.1M for Thurs and Friday but then get 0.6M-0.7M for Saturday. If all 3 days have the same forecast why the heck is Saturday looking so bad chop-wise to cross the straight based on Windy's data?

Simple answer is, 5 knots equals .1 chop and 15 knots is more like .6. Enviro Canada is more about covering the basis. Windy and fishweather etc will give you their best guess based on 3 or 4 models. Sometimes they all line up, sometimes they don't. Tides play a factor as well as wind direction. Predicting sea conditions is tricky. I've seen them all be off by quite a bit.

I watch alot of the weather sites and this week up at Ukee they called for gale force all week and we saw nothing above 15knts all week, don't let the wind apps deter you is all I'm saying fish an hour before and after the tides, and keep an eye on this forum as 98% of the time everyone here is reporting real time,or just came off the water. What I'm saying is make your own day cause if we wouldn't have gone out everyday in Ukee we would of drank alot more Vodka!!!

Not a fishing report. But a qualified captain Vanier edition report nonetheless:

I never understood how this type of incident can ever happen...see tons of videos online of vehicles ending up in the water don't don't understand how it happens...do people simply shift from reverse into neutral(thinking they got it in park) and get out of their cars? I always double and triple check it's in park and don't get out until I am certain truck isn't rolling backwards and that it is indeed in park.

Been trolling for coho on the West Van Shoreline for about two hours, finally a breeze has picked up because it has been stifling hot. Gorgeous day though, watching the action of a coho killer which is so impressive but they are so weak when you go to gaff release a fish. Pretzels. When you use voice text and press the send button in error, hilarious what comes out.

Me neither. To be honest maybe best this happens at the launch before these types make it onto the water.

My new to me vehicle has anti rollback something built into it. Was launching boat last week and wanted to open drivers door to ensure I wasn’t dunking rear wheels and wouldn’t let me backup. Played with it after and seems it will auto park if drivers door is open while in gear or no one is in the seat.

People just get stuck on the ramp at low tide and then the tide comes up. It's pretty simple. You need a 4x4 for most ramps and until you know, you don't know.

No, this has never happened to me.

I did think about this when going to a bigger boat and not wanting to make that mistake. The one scenario I thought of was backing the boat in prior to taking the tie-down straps off. If the boat is far enough in it could float the trailer and pull up on the hitch as well. This would take traction and braking power off the rear wheels and on a slippery ramp the momentum of backing into the water could pull the whole works in.

Edit: I wasn’t clear that I was referring to someone forgetting to remove the tie-downs before backing the boat in. No, this hasn’t happened to me (yet).
