Fished over at naniamo side this evening. Marked lots of bait at the fingers in the first 70ft of water. I was fishing at 180 and 250 on the rigger. People catching around me left right and center. Pulled it up to 60 and 80 on the rigger and had two monster springs - released without netting (one intentional the other not but worked out!). And retained a 70cm doe chum. Haven't caught a Chum on this side before. Great night.
thats a early chum u get any pics of it?

I think there going with the assumption that everyone knows no retention under 62cm. So saying nothing over 80 means slot size 62 - 80cm. That is my interpretation. Now all I have to do is actually put the boat in the water and get out. :D
Here’s the fisheries notice that “clarifies” the max limit of 80cm
It is definitely hard to find & interpret ‍♂️

Most guides are crossing that I talked to, it is noticeably slow in Vancouver harbour and area right now.
My wife and I and a buddy and his girlfriend fished the trench this afternoon evening from around 3pm-7. We just caught the tail end of low slack and fished the flood tide. Was a nice crossing with a couple bumps with the perfect temp. Less than 5 minutes in got a nice 66cm on a chartreuse glow hoochie at 240 on the rigger and 30 minutes after that a beauty 74cm on the same setup at 220 on the rigger. Slow other than that, just two rockfish safely released with the auto descender.
We had a delicious burgers on the boat for supper then picked up and headed back for a smooth crossing. It was like glass going up the north arm back to the marina.
First time for me fishing over there with a bit of wind in the mix. Definitely lots to learn, also the auto pilot decided to have a mind of its own lol
all in all a great night.

ps how cool are the shirts my wife made us for the boat!

Was out 12-5 today area 29-6 , 10-20 boats , had one pin popper, only saw a few releases at sides of boat
the one hit at 88’ 120’ of water, purple haze flasher + copcar by the shrink wrapped house
Isn’t 29-6 closed to fishing

Well there you have it folks, I guess it's open. Screenshot this page and show it to the judge. ;)

I personally don't think it is open at all for chinooks, but clearly many other disagree or read the regs differently as it's clear for catch n release.

Anyway no first hand reports but close second hand, all the way up to Chatham area and it's cooled off on the east side it seems. Similar to other years when things continue to be solid off French creek / Campbell River etc. It would be interesting to see what's happening off the NA right now, I bet there's solid action

Yeah this is prime QA time

Fished off of snake tonight. 71cm stinky pink/white chrome bullet that made me think it was destined for the cap in about a month. Green splatter back hootchie 190ft on the rigger. Photo back at the joint we rented on Gabriola.
