2021 Tuna Adventures

Leaderboard after Day 1. Tons of small fish and a handful of big guys. Pretty gross out today, quite a few stayed in and lots back early. Tomorrow looks better though.
Wow, glad you guys were able to get out and HOOK UP at least! We just returned from the “BOUNTY INTO THE BLUE” tournament at Oli’s in Winter Harbour. Sept 2nd was the start of the derby, on the dock by 3:15 for 3:30 lift off! We traveled 40 miles straight west to our start point, about 15 miles inside the BANJO. We were watching the temp go up 1 degree per mile, so we knew we were close. As day broke we could see the chlor was there, and we hit 62 degree water, 6:30 am deploy the gear! We had 7 buddy boats traveling with, and a fantastic group to say the least. Within 5 min there was buddy boats hooking up! We washed gear for an hour and then the reels lit up! FISH! DOUBLE!! TRIPLE!!! Everyone was wide awake instantly! We had dreamy seas and ended the day with 14, with some 26 to 28 lb long fins.
Day 2 we left the dock again at 3:30 and traveled about 7 miles off, and turned around after taking water over the hardtop doing 7 miles an hour. Went back in and picked up our lings inside. Day 3 was a hard no go! Blowing 35 SE, great card day, and process the fish from the first two days.
Day 4 we left the dock at 4:30 and got to Cain’s for a quick stop to check Terrifin, picked our point out to Haida and started our trek in 3 meter seas, with a two foot chop! 3 hours later we were on our mark! Deployed the gear and hooked up within 20 min. Thought it would be a great day, however we all scratched to find our fish! Ended the day with 8!
Day 5 FINAL DAY we went back a bit south of Haida, as BAD HABIT had reached out to us with decent reports from the day before. We once again scratched and picked up 3 more.
The whole derby that Oli puts on is really top knotch! We didn’t win anything this year, but we will be back next year with bells on! Great daily prizes ( TR3 donated by Tuna Max) And other guided trips donated for daily prizes as well.
Big thanks to all the buddy boats out there helping one another to get on the fish! The commerotery between all boats was second to none!! Can’t wait till next year!! Unless we get some warm water close for Octuna!!!! Tight lines!

So, my buddy on the Megabite won the Race for the Blue for the 2nd year in a row. Super happy for him!

Won $48,000 last year and $107,000 with all the side pots. Damn good payday for the crew!
WOW, I didn't realize there was that much money involved

Didn't Megabite come in 2nd or 3rd as well a couple years back?

John sure knows how to find the fish. We did a charter with him a couple years back over Easter. Had a fantastic time and I'm not surprised at all to see him consistently on top of the leaderboard.
