What a pig...2 8 inch kokes on digest and it took the bait. With these surface temps are you just skimming the top with bucktails fast and way back?

Usually yes. Some days they want them on the planer board. Some days just straight out the back. I usually always have a rigger set at 27-51-69. Picked a few up at those depths too on plugs.

Switch to skiing...much more body friendly. But then of course it takes away from time (and money) spent on the boat!

Ok lake is very frustrating even for the most experienced angler! lol @Fisher_dude and myself have put tones of time out there matt has put more in then myself, even rodney reels who is the local guide sometimes has low fish or no fish days... which can be frustrating to say the least and hes been fishing the lake for 20+ years. Your marking schools of kokanee more then likely maybe even some sockeye which is good as the trout do feed on them primarily but sometimes those are also junk fish (carp, white fish etc) and in the winter months always run on top to start with bucktails , and plugs ideally with planer boards if you have em as well.
in that photo you posted those 2 marks behind the school could possibly be rainbows as they tend to stage behind or below the bait.. but hard to tell really.
Faster the better for them as well, but with the upper water column being so cold they are very lethargic currently so its a hit or miss thing at the best of times with such a large body of water.

I look for schools just like that but higher up in the water column. If I can find that in 30-60ft, it usually means there’s rainbows feeding on them. If I do find a spot where they bait is up high and scattered, I’ll fish it for a few hours and usually pull a couple fish out of the area.

I fish Skaha a fair amount usually and I was in the same boat as you with this. I put a dodger and small hoochie down and yep Kokanee. I love trolling these now and stack a plug or Apex on the bottom of the rigger and put Kokanee gear at the proper depth just to keep some action on the rods. If them big Bow's are around you have a decent chance of picking up a fish or 2. Also don't forget to put your Pro-cure on anything going in the water.. put our hook up ratio 10x.

Went 6 for 7 today. All on Bucktails. One good fish lost. The rest were 20” and under. Some nasty weather to deal with later on in the day.

2 for 6 on Saturday in the wind. Spent more time messing with my autopilot than anything else. Apex and Bucktails on top.

On the lake one south caught and released an 8-2. Little colored up but hit like a train and fought good. 4.5 narrow Cop car apex at 2.1 mph. One other hit on the blue and chrome but didn't stick. Still test and tune on the boat.
