I think that's what I started with when Pacific Angler set me up for the first time 5 years ago, maybe #3. Then the bait got bigger and bigger and bigger and the hooks followed! Picked up some 3s and 4s this afternoon but switched over to a barbed big river? Or something like that. See how it goes. Thanks for the reply.
fished the cap mouth this morning from 10-2, one in the boat around 15 had 3 other solid hits that popped the rigger then gone. stripped my bait clean. Got the one on a medium herring in a anchovie teaser.

I think the seals are stealing bait. I feel like this is happening more o_O

Stingers kill a lotta fish you wanna throw back. They cause bleeds. I’d rather get less fish. Large trebles or better yet, single hooks make it far easier to release. Just one mans view.

Anyone drop prawn traps in the usual areas in the lower Howe sound? If so how has it been? Last year was my first year for prawning and I am wondering when it will pickup again.

Set the traps Sunday afternoon off Bowen but only got a dozen spot prawns and about 30 of the smaller ones. Shrimp? Don't know what those are called

Was looking online to buy some fake anchovies (baitrix?). Could find any on amazon or anywhere else online. You guys have any suggestion? Do some of the tackle stores carry? Was Hoping to get some before Saturday to give it a try.

Think about all the baby fish that will be swimming out to the ocean in a year and you’ll have more fish to catch in 3-4 years. All because you let a few more spawners swim up river today. Makes you feel better?? :p

Like these , I'm in Richmond, Nikka in Richmond did carry them but we all know what happened to them . Might try Pacific Net & Twine in Richmond. If not I'll give you one of each color if you can swing by the house (PM me ) 20191003_102732.jpg

No Ringo it actually doesnt lmao!!

I am thinking unless you put some bigtime scent that will stay on them they may not be as effective. In the eyes of a spring salmon, a plastic anchovy is no different than a spoon with proper action. I think it's the scent along with the movement that gets their instinctive nature to bite. We all know fish staging at the mouth have had years to feed and fatten up and feeding is no longer a top priority. Top priority is getting up river. IF you end up trying it out or if anyone has used this setup in the past let us know how effective they are. If I can get away from using bait I'd be all over that.

BTW, I'm somewhat new to the vancouver saltwater scene... where is this area called the fisheries that i keep on hearing?

49°20'24.94"N

It is the part out front of the DFO facility.
In close to the beach to the west (out front of the streams) can produce or circuit all the way to Pt Atkinson.

Yup. That's what I'm looking for. I'm out in Surrey and I can't find a place to pick them up. Thanks for the offer, I appreciate it. My local crappy tire and their online site doesn't carry them. I'm not able to get out to Richmond today/tomorrow but will give you a shout next time I'm in Steveson buying salmon b/c I haven't caught any :)

Just found a place to get them online... http://tackleliquidator.ca -- they have the glow ones only. $6 for 3... not bad. Only problem is the shipping is $21.41. Pass.

I've used those durabaits before and they work pretty good. Come in handy when you're getting low on the real thing
