Caught this boat pulling our trap west of Cates on Thursday with no other traps in sight, when we rolled up the guy threw our gear overboard and gunned it but couldn't outrun us. Realizing this he slowed down but all he could say for himself was "sorry no english". We've lost three traps in the Cates area recently, DFO was notified but keep an eye out for this boat.

Your a better man than I. I would of F'ing lost it. "Sorry no English" nope. Not to me. I'd be teaching him how to speak Braille. F#cking scum

Well I agree it is ptetty low reacting or threatening violence over a trap could land you in more trouble then him.
What a dickhead though. Raiding or stealing traps. Just go buy your own if u can afford a boat.

Sad part is all is I have lost 2 sets of traps in the area as well, and that fellow if you look closely has a Scotty puller on the starboard side- perfectly set up to steal traps.

Pardon the sob-story, but my wife of 30 years is off work - getting her giblets carved out ( asked her I f I could keep the roe - told me I was a horrible man) and we having some really hard times, saving gone etc. as we are on a single income for several months now, 2 months to go, and I have to ask fishing buddies or count pennies to go fishing .
And now I have to give up my traps at $200 bucks each rig ( stainless, lines & buoy) to this scumbag? Really frosts my cake. Cost me at least 4 fishing trips to replace. Precious time with my grandson and friends.

Really wish violence wouldn't get us in trouble, as I am a big fellow and can swing a 12-pound cannonball around like a feather, which would sure make some pretty round holes in that tin boat and fix the problem quick, would of course suggest they put on their life-jackets, safety -first!. Really appreciate the report - will keep eyes peeled.

Kama will come knocking for that mofo, mark my words . I don't know why some folks feel that salvage laws attach to crab and prawn traps, it is garbage that some feel this is "in bounds" behavior.

I feel for your situation, Willow-bee, stay strong and steady, you will rise far beyond entitled shitheads who feel access to others' stuff is their right. Pennies indeed...

does anyone know where he ties up?

Does he tie up in NV or?

I'm at LGM and I have not seen that vessel before, I will look around for sure.

I keep my boat at reed point. I’ll keep an eye out. Can’t say I recognize that boat, but there can’t be many of those old star crafts around.

So has anyone been out yesterday or today?

I bet they launched at cates so it could be from anywhere, will send this around to see if anyone from the Cove has seen it as well.

Decided to relax a bit on the water today so put the prawn traps in for a 4 hour soak.

Managed about 50 in the traps after the soak. A few big ones, female of course so those 27 went back. 23 keepers for dinner tonight. Rules are rules.

Keep in mind that all the hatchlings from the females that I threw back are mine so if you catch them kindly return them to me and not just the heads.

They are all hatchery marked for your convenience.

Here's a solution that doesn't involve anything to violent but definitely will teach him a lesson. They make quick dry permanent bright orange oil based paint balls just pepper the whole boat and let him enjoy getting that off when he gets home. :)

Can someone get name and address of boat owner from the Reg. numbers on side of boat?
that would be a good start , to post that.

Hey guys, I'm very new to salt water fishing, bought my boat this spring. I am not ready to put it away for the winter , does anyone know how the chum fishing is off the South arm in October ? Wouldn't mind doing some catch and release...
