I had a similar problem in the Victoria harbour. Turned out it was otters.
Not a crab thief. Had teeth marks in my bait containers.

Yes, I encountered a large otter at Gorge area across from Portage Inlet last spring. They do eat anything on the sea or rivers bottom at no problem.

Fished secretary 6-8 pm tonight ended up with a beauty 31 lbs white spring on a TKO spoon green/glow (thank you wise buys for bringing these in) at 44 ft

Oh that's good Profisher the guy that preaches ethical fishing to everyone, tells others to fish illegally. there is a reason for ROT CORD.

Decent day of action - clubbing Coho lol! Fished 6-12. Straight out of the harbour in ~120' of water, got oriented and started to troll towards the island. First hit in 5mins was missed, then 5mins later another, got that one to the boat and it was a clipped ho! Trolled past the island on the outside (I think ...lol) towards the Shack. Back and forth there for the rest of the day. Hooked and released a few unclipped ho's and one small spring, only managed two small springs. Fished chovies all day; bloody nose on army truck flasher and/or green flasher. Very few boats out, when the fog lift partially.

What was the water like this morning. Other than the fog that is. It was very windy on Constance this am but not the waterfront. Thinking of heading west tomorrow am.

Thanks

JL

water was calm ...little lumpy....lots of weeds, kelps, and wood pieces all over places. I was at Otter Pt this morning.

Headed out of Pedder on Sat am hoping to fish Church rk. Stiff wind and fog was enough to keep our little boat with a full load inside the bay. Managed two 11s and a 6 early afternoon. RCamp checked us and many others. Very nice guys. Obviously Glad to be on the water too!

That would not effect the rot cord on mine. Good idea if you are getting robbed by human or other.

I didn't say zap tie the rot cord opening buddy! All I said was secure the sides of the trap so that they have to cut them to open the trap...proving you were raided.

trolled the ebb from otter to muir in the fog yesterday morning - 1 mid-teen chinook picked up on the slack and 3 coho including 1 hatchery. bloody nose and silver betsy - all at or around 60 feet.

If you guys see a Coho jumping around with a gold betsy attached grab it would ya. We tried and failed. you can keep the fish, i want my favorite flasher back.lol

Im pretty sure u told everyone to zap strap the top door of a commercial style trap so a guy couldn't break in and rob you, Ya makes it harder to get in but illegal as the strap that keeps the top door from opening must have a rot cord inline to allow the trap to open up if left for a period of time. A couple lost or cut off zap straped traps sitting in an area will keep fishing and can do major damage to an area.

This is a reports page. If you have a problem with what was said on here...and I think I know what it is about about.... deal with it with him alone offline...
