Biggest Salmon you ever caught???

56 lber off cape naden then a 53 lber an hour later both on cutplug 4 and 9 pulls (QCI) both released

Awesome job on the release Brycemcl. Ahhh Cpae Naden, sure miss those fishing grounds. Biggest guided 50lbs Bird Rock 2, whole herring.

Glad to hear you released both those trophies brycemcl. Good on ya. A replica mount looks as nice, and keeps far better over time. Nice to see a few people releasing the big hogs.

Biggest I have seen released in my boat was 48lbs, awesome feeling!! I know Yo Mama has convinced a few guest to release a coulple of 50's, wow.
The #'s of 40's hitting the docks on the WCVI has to be way down from 10 yrs ago??? agree?
30 lb's is quickly going to be the new 40 in the next few years. Sure hope I am wrong. Better get my 50 out of Sooke this year, LOL!

when i used to work for wcfc up in langara we released many over 50 and some into the 60's very cool feeling to watch true monsters swimming away. The lodge actually gave replicas to any guest who let a fish over 40 swim.

I had a buddy who was up at Langara 2 years ago....never been salmon fishing....first fish he catches...EVER, was estimated by measurements to go pretty close to, if not 70lbs. And....he released it. I think he had the option of an engraved Islander or a whack of fish provided to him for doing so. I "offered" to have my name put on the Islander but for some reason it didn't quite jive with him; EVEN if I was going to throw some cash in on the side. [:p] ;)

I'll see if he has a coupe of pics to send me and is okay with postin' it up. [8D]

Ocean caught: 62lbs. at the head of R.I. in 92'..
Freshwater was around 70lbs by measurement at the Nat back in 01'

Played one that I hooked at Snake rk. ( hey Luna ;)) that took me across to within a mile of the Dark side(Cape Edinshaw) Over an hour an a half and about 7 miles in an ugly N.W. only to have her drop the hook.. Had it to the gunnels at least three seperate times and each attempt was thwarted by a greeny.. Filled the mauntak each time and finally the battle was lost to a well worked hook loosing the battle..
We guessed it to be low to mid eighties. Truly was the fish of a lifetime thats for sure.. You just gotta get the gear back in and keep pluggin away..
I think mamma was sitting in the piggy hole when I hooked her..[:p]-dirty

Hey Wolf how long ago was that 53 in Knight and what time of season? I sure wish I could have fished up there in the good days - some real nice fish. I had a guest a few years back who cruises the area in a huge yacht every year and his biggest was a 48 in Knight I can't remember how long back. Anyways those are some beauty's.

Hey SG thats the taxidermist our lodge works through - awesome work!

Smeegle... who are you? And how do you know about Steve French? It was 11 above Al Foster actually... Marzy?

CD Ya, he was saying that he works with many QCI lodges as well as other places...it's the place we will be sending all our clients now as well!!

As for price, they charge per inch...and I believe it is like twenty something an inch....I believe ours is forty something inches and it came to eight hundred and something dollars...don't quote me on that...but I'm fairly positive...I will find out when I get back to the island come Friday where our receipt is for ya.

whos marzy? i guess it will have to be a mystery...I used to live up in that neck of the woods and have many friends there some of the locals know your co-workers and as a result your code names...maybe you should change them up this season or go scramble "eggs" all season long

Mine would have to be my 36.4 pounder caught somwhere between church rock and secretary in the tidelines at 195 ft on the rigger in 500 ft of water on extra large herring. Sounded straight to the bottom and stayed there for a good 20 mins.

My grandpa had a day off aldridge in the early 90's when he caught a 48.9 and a 46.5 in 2 hours by himself. I remember him taking a picture of me and the fish and they were both bigger then me at age 6. Very impressive day of fishing.

Nice Doug thats a hog. Alot of the bigger fish I've seen from sooke look alot like that one. Well, I've only seen two so thats not statistically reliable but my dad and gramps got a 53 off the trap back in 04, mid-september, and it looks damn near exactly the same. It was a white - yours? I wonder where they're from..?

The late running whites are Harrison River bound. The largest fish from Sooke are either early June stubbies or September big headed, small eyed Harrison Whites. Both fish are quite distinct looking and in no way from French Creek. :D.
