High Tech Jigging

If you guys are after salmon jigs, pm @Waterwolf2230 . He runs the tackle shack and can hook you up. I know he has lots of the butterfly jigs & Diawa saltiga jigs. I’ve order gear from him in the past and he’s dialled in. Keep your bucks on the island rather than overseas.
Thanks for the heads up. PM sent to him.

thats to bad they hooked me up with a great selection of plugs and grand slam buck tails. I guess im not to surprised my co workers just spent 4 days guided in CR and came back with a few ling and rockfish and a coho they got in nootka. Last day they spent in CR they went looking for coho but got nothing expect nice big chinook working the 40-60 feet all released of course.

Needless to say they were pretty POed and wont be going again to CR. He told me the guide went on a rant the second to last day about DFO and it got pretty uncomfortable in the boat.

what did they expect to bring home? closed to retention chinook salmon? sound like nightmare guests

I have been making and using Flutter Jigs (4oz) for the past 3 years , for both Salmon and all the bottom fish , with success. They kinda work like buz bombs but no line chafing and the baked on powder paint lasts for ever I'm told. I know theyll take any rock beating while in the water. I have my fav colors in my boat for 3 years and they look like the day I started using them, no paint peel at all.
PM me if your interested , heres a few colors and can just about make any special color mix u want (of 2 or even 3 colors) .
Tight lines
Clint

Where on the island is this outfit

I was looking for the Owner Monster assist hooks to upgrade over stock ones and could only find the Owner Dancing assist hooks which are a little light for my liking. I was also looking for Size 9 Owner hyper wire split rings which cost a fortune on Amazon

I ended up finding all in Canada here https://www.pechesud.com/ and they've got some interesting stuff for sale with loads of different jigs.

Purchased Sunday evening and arrived Tuesday afternoon.

How long of a leader do you suggest?
In front of a swivel? As long as your rod allows having your lure on the hook keep and the swivel a few inches short of your rod tip eye. You need to be able to move around a lot without breaking your gear down. You don't a too short leader, with less stretch and a swivel too close to the lure distracting the fish. I haven't been using a leader for jigs. 25' of 20 lb mono tied directly to 30 lb braid with double uni knots seems to work fine.

I ordered from here last year and was happy with the product.

I will be testing them out 3rd week of July at Cambel River. Can't wait to give them a go.

I hope you report on how well they work for you. I have been trying some of the shimano jigs lately. I am trying to up my jigging game as I find it an engaging way to fish. I fish a lot by myself so its hard to compare, I seem to catch fish on whatever jig I use when I find bait and fish.

That zebra glow would be my first to try. I have done well on that pattern. I haven't tried anything lighter than 100 gr as my rod is designed ideally for ~130 gr. I just wouldn't get the desired action out of the 60 gr.

What setup do you use?
