I was excited to get the new 30 HP installed at Inlet this week but during a routine inspection they found a cracked gear in the drive. Metal everywhere. Insurance again (hopefully). I'm 5 for 5 in catastrophic failures when pulling the boat for maintenance. FML.

Good thing they found it right now before all shops get booked up. Always look at the half full part of the sh*tter

You're absolutely right. I planned this service to get me ready for Bamfield in May. Don't need any surprises last minute like it's usually been.

Put boat in my man cave 2 weeks ago before the snow nice to have the wood stove going and working on a 26 foot boat in a t shirt will rocking out to some tunes..... 2 coats of wax new kicker, new oils engine and legs on both, Zincs, some touch up wiring, clean and clean.
getting ready to put in water for march 1st and going halibut fishing......

Ive had a brand new instock item in my shed for 5 years a brand new 9.9 yammy got it and never used it too good of a deal to pass up
. Ive used them for coming up 40 years never really had a issue so why switch, ill be selling my old one that has 5 years on it nothing wrong with it just figured it was time since ive had time on my hands.
Would I like something different maybe a EFI but I look at cost has to warrant use and at close to 5 grand I would need a hell of a lot of charters to pay that off. if I was rich like most of you out there buying new boats and fancy islanders maybe LOL LOL..

Got this old thing ordered up and booked for install next week! Going stainless prop and 5 white analogue Guages to fit the same spots as my factory.

This is a rebuild I am presently doing... in stages... It is a 1976 American ski boat. New stringers etc... The first picture is when I purchased it from a farmer who had it in his quonset... for years...

Id put helm right in middle when your working both side of boat putting riggers, rods down its really nice just to reach over and turn and for landing fish , besides you should be too busy catching fish to sit down LOL LOL

Itl be a foot off centre, and hoping thats the case yes lol

Installed new engine mounts on my little 30 hp diesel today. Having trouble getting the coupling alignment within spec. Everything looks goods but when I tighten the lock nuts it pulls the side to side off. Gave up on it for today as frustration was setting in. Will try tomorrow or Monday when I cool off.

Read the “is my new kicker mounted correctly “ thread and discovered I need to drop my kicker bracket about 3”.

If you are so inclined and thinking about cleaning up the cooler black marks I found Vim with a scrub brush worked extremely well. Tried a lot of different cleaners and Vim is my choice.

A few years ago I used a Magic Eraser on my cooler, the marks were easily erased and so was the finish of the cooler.
Oh well, I used the Eraser on the whole cooler so now it all looks the same.

Good to know thank you. Will need to clean cooler, and get the bottom corners fixed somehow.
