Shore fishing anywhere around Comox in winter?

No boat this weekend, but wondering if anyone knows any good shore spots to put a few crab pots down and throw a line in?

Any piers or some rock ledge? Or are we wasting our time?

Harbour is full of rock crab-- but I dont think I would want to eat them ! There are dungeness , but you will need a boat to get into 50ft or deeper. It is possible to buzzbomb off the breakwater if you can make a long cast. I have seen kids catching doggies and a small number of winter springs there.

Yeah, seems the whole harbour is bad for bivalve, I imagine that doesn't mean the best for crab meat either.

Might give the buzzbombs a try off the breakwater there. Better than nothing!

Thanks for the info.

Worth crabbing in the comox bay?

There are always traps in the water-- and a few crabs are taken. But a 2 hr soak does not work however. Not really a great crab area.
