O.G. Scale Plug Re-Paints

I found the purple garlic bag to be very stretchy compared to the bug netting I have used on the previous plug. After a mint green base coat it was time for some color and scale. I used silver metallic for the scales.I also used the purple garlic on the second plug in picture.

Those plugs look awesome, great job. Some use garlic scent as an attractant. This is just going above and beyond to a whole new level. LOL

Very talented!

They all look good but I'd still fish the plain one first

Awesome looking paint jobs. I now have an airbrush kit but am going to paint in the winter once the weather turns sour. Keep posting it’s inspiring.

Well it’s that time of year again to squirt some paint. The first batch of plugs I mainly used fluorescent paint. Some of the very early Tomic plugs had some fluorescent paint on them. Here is an example of a early sporty model under a UV light. So I thought it would be fun to mess around and come up with a few creations.

Your plugs are looking killer, nicely done.

What are you using on the wooden plugs to seal the wood as a base? And what to you top coat with?

Over the years I’ve played with various types of materials for fish scale stencils. One that I had good success with was aluminum first aid splints. It could be easily cut and bent to fit the contour of plugs and spoons.

I’m very interested in how the UVLS will stand up to the abuse from dragging through the water plus fish teeth. I love the UVLS for many applications but have been reluctant to try it as a clear coat on spoons and plugs. I’ve found that durability of a 2k urethane is tough to beat but the downside is that it comes with the hassle of toxic fumes, spray guns and safety gear. But the durability and shine is absolutely kick butt.

Well after showing my daughter some of my recent re-paints she told me that I need too add more bling lol..so for this batch I went with iridescent purple and iridescent electric blue squirted with the silver color shift over top and hot rod sparkle white belly’s with UV and then sprayed glow in the dark over everything, so double glow..

Yeah this createx clear is not high grade, but yes less toxic and I have had decent success.
