Halibut when to go ?

I was curious does anyone know the best time to fish for Halibut with the Princess Boats in Ucluelet?
What is the best bait method to hook some Hali?
I heard to use a Halibut jig with a fish head hook on it?

Would appreciate any feed back

Halibut season usually goes from may til august,possibly later. I personally havent fished offshore much later than early august(goin after the springs inside).almost any bait(herring,octupus,salmon belly, heads etc.) will work but during a lot of the season bait fishing can also be an overly effective method of catchin doggies. I find large powerbait grubs are equally effective as bait and the dogfish usually leave them alone. Lucky jigs, mudrakers etc. with X10 or butt juice all over them work pretty well too.
