Yes - saw them this summer - good looking very rugged boats. Would you guys be comfortable going say 5-10 miles offshore in say a 24 foot centre console in a moderate (6-8) swell? I really like the Cope designs as well and may be in the market to build or buy used (once the price of oil comes back a bit more hahaha). Have not spent any time in a larger cc.

dont think anyone is comfortable in those conditions lol ,
id go 10 miles out on a smaller ride like what im lookin at, , dozens of times in my 18 back in the day ,
fumy how sometimes smaller boats seem to fair better in the swell , not so much on the trip back to the beach

You are right though, these boats are amazing. I have never ridden in a small boat that seems so big. They love the rough stuff......or maybe that's just me!

JAC: The boat has a 8'3 Beam. At the chines it is just shy of seven feet when measured at the transom. The floor width would be very close to that measurement as well, slightly wider though

just wanted to thank Baby Duck ( Derik ) for givin me the time to talk shop on my quest for a larger boat yesterday ,
alot of great info on building , thanks so much , unfortunately , he does not have the time for another build ,
so my search continues , going to try and track down a couple of leads , still really leanin on the 19 Cope from Qualicum Resorts builds , ,
the very similar 18's outta Nootka ( Moutcha Bay ) are also right up there , buds gonna give Gibran a poke this week ...
anyways , give it a couple more months to see if a pre-owned one shows itself, if not , a build will be in order.....

I almost had the same Cope hull built a few years ago, but without the hardtop. Spoke/emailed with Bruce Cope and Amanda numerous times on the way. I had aluminum priced from a US supplier when our dollar was stronger and got a quote from Aegir to assemble it. Did not do it for a few reasons, but I have walked your path not long ago. We talked a lot about centre console positioning, as I have had a lot of time in the amazing Bridgeview 18 CC and it is further to the back to allow for the guests to sit up front on the swivel seats and watch the rods. Bruce suggested putting wherever it worked best for my use but I would probably move it forward as I would not need the guests seats.

Did you talk to Coastal Craft, as I believe they have built in the past a few of Copes smaller hulls before they dedicated to the large yachts only, designed by Bruce Cope. If so, they may know of past customers that you could have them inquire about possibly selling their boat.

I know you are specific on what you want, however I trust you have seen the Bridgeview T Top 18'? Incredible looking boat, and a proven hull design.

Just picked myself up a Bridgeview 18' CC. Have fished them on west side of Gwaii for close to 10 years. Awesome boats, high gunnels and self bailing deck with large scuppers. We beat on them in seas up to 3m no problem. They're on CL for 17k(hull only).

yes , ive looked at them , very nice , shopping metal right now , no rush ,
still hopin a used Cope pops up soon , using my 16 Smokercraft for one more winter , just got back from 5 days out west ,
did just fine , will be for next summer / winter
