Trophy Pod Project

For those who want to follow along I will post progress along the way, hopefully it’s helpful to some people, might even intice you to do the same. Some winter season entertainment at the very least.

Week 1; Swim grid off, leg off, engine out and cleaning up the sludge mess left below. Great chance to clean/tidy up wiring, change bilge/well pumps, etc. Almost ready for getting measured up for the pod, then patch all the holes and send it off mid-Dec for pod install. Likely putting a hard top on her as well.

What model Trophy is it and what's your overall plan, also do you have a budget

2052 WA (2006 model year). Going brand new OB, 90% decided on the Merc 250, pending design/engineering of the pod. New kicker also. Likely hard top as well. Not sure how “professional” I’m going to re-do the deck space, I’m pretty good with fibreglass, that may end up as a project in a couple years (just something functional for now). Would like to stay south of $50k but in reality it’ll creep to $55k

Trying to get a few bucks out of it, same with the motor... got someone coming tmw for the whole powertrain, but if it doesn't work out I can message you. Yes its Alpha one Gen 2.

Edit: got a few quick bucks out of the motor & leg, flogged the old kicker too. That’ll maybe pay for the pod… lol

Great thread A-a-Ron. I’m also curious how you will finish the deck where the inboard cowling sits. Look forward to some more pictures.

Thanks.

Well she is off to the shop now for pod build/install, if all goes to plan late Feb/early March motor installation. Decided on the Mercury 250, deposit paid and she’s sitting at the dealer just waiting.

A 200 was likely ample for the boat, but I tend to run heavy/loaded, I cross the straight several times a year, and got a good deal so what the hell. The pod is designed for it & it gets reinforced with a transom plate (inside) & tied into old motor mounts. Plus nobody ever wished they had less power.

Still can’t believe it’s a V8 and weighs only 527lbs. o_O I guess I forgot to take a pic all sanded & gel coated…

I can't imagine the feeling of uncrating a brand new engine (or two). Must feel like Christmas.
I wish I could find the sense in putting a couple 140 Suzukis on the back of my 2459, it would be so mentally satisfying. No financial sense but so much fun.

Interesting what you've done with the passenger seat. Room for storage underneath and table on the back
Interesting thing to notice, but you have been on the boat a few times ;) Was gonna put a padded cushion on there, a good little look-back seat while trolling.
