Sportfishing Halibut Allotment

Can anyone tell me where we are as far as the Halibut allotment for sporties.
Last year it was over somewhere around now.

I think he's wondering when the season will close ?
We hope that it will be open longer than Labour day this year
with the introduction of the slot limit.
It's really difficult to say, DFO will roll the dice and give us a week's notice.

A fisheries officer told me a couple days ago the amount of sport fisherman on the west coast is down 40 percent. With that many less people out there we shouldnt even come close to our quota

There is no way in hell we should reach our quota. With the ok at best salmon fishing on the west coast thus far, I cant imagine alot of people are heading over there for 1 over 1 under hali limit and a few coho and a bunch of smaller springs. on the banks which would explain the 40 percent. (not sure how the measure that though.
