It appears this hatchery is on the Skagit River near Marblemount

Received results back from two fish caught in Oct, off of Sheringham Point. One had no tag & the other one was from the US. It was 3yr old fish, it was nice to know were the fish came from. I just want to thank all the people involved.

Interesting why?

The S1 smolts released seem to be having a better return ratio, as they are overrepresented in the tags compared to how many would be released. (AFAIK)

They're not comparatively big when they come back, even with a head start, meaning they were limited at some point and didn't carry that advantage throughout their journey.

One question would be whether the advantage was size or maturity of immune system at release.

Another would be whether we are able to recreate the "natural" 5 yr old fish using enhancement techniques, as the trajectory of over-wintered fish seems to drop steeply.

Endless opportunity for increasing our level of knowledge when it comes to salmon.

Just receive my salmon head Recovery Report for Aug/Sept. No CWT in any of our fish. I compared it to my logbook information and was surprised to see where most of our clipped fish were caught in Sooke.

The Victoria waterfront we landed 37 fish and 2 fish were clipped, and heads dropped off at ESQ Angler. Which works out to be .05% of the fish caught were clipped.

In Sooke we landed 21 fish and 4 were clipped and the heads dropped off at the Sooke Harbour and Marina. Which works out to be .19% of the fish we caught were clipped.

Sure, a lot more hatchery fish around Sooke. The CWT report for area 19/20, only shows that one fish head was turned in from the Sooke net pen? It also appears Robertson Creek fish with CWT have been caught the most in area 19/20. I also noted that only one fish with a CWT was caught in area 19 and 22 fish in area 20. See attached DFO report.

Hope I'm reading these report correct.

I have a DFO charter guide number and every clipped fish we catch is turned in at any DFO head recovery box and it has my # on it. DFO sends me a report at the end of the season which shows the status of all the fish submitted. Here is some general info on where CWT fish which came from area 19/20. Victoria/Sooke. We did not catch any of the fish on this report.

Other fishermen must be receiving the same reports or similar, but lots don’t, and the reports are interesting read.
I’m also wondering if other have received similar reports can they post them.

The report shows where the fish were raised and the year. It also show where the fish was caught.

As noted, 23 fish with CWT were caught in area 19/20.
Only one fish with a CWT was caught in area 19 Victoria and 22 CWT fish in area 20.

My personal logbook shows, In Victoria (area 19) we fished 13 trips and only 5% of the fish landed had been clipped. But had no CWT in them.
In Sooke (area 20) we fished 11 trips and 19% of the fish landed had been clipped. But had no CWT in them.
We caught 2X as many fish in Victoria as other locations.

Sure, appears that there are more clipped fish being caught in area 20.

The attached CWT recovery info report shows 12 fish with CWT were from BC and 11 fish with CWT were US. It appears more BC raised; CWT fish are being caught in Area 19/20 in Aug/Sept than US CWT fish..

Just got three back from this winter (Dec/Jan). No tags. Must've been American fish. One of them was over 10 lbs.

I submit every head from my boat under one number so I don't have to fill out contact details on every head submitted. One head had a tag from Chilliwack River last Oct.

Nothing had tags from the winter fish.
