Exactly! I’ve been involved in a few search operations where I used (in considerably more than half dozen flares just for location confirmations. The expired ones came in handy
Be sure and keep your "expired " flares separate from your "current" ones. There usually isnt an issue with ignition on expired ones... but would sure hate for that to happen when it is critical.
