Can anyone ID this plug?

It has an interesting harness and a nice shape. It kind of reminds me of Hansen but not exactly. It kind of also reminds me of a Mac Squid, sort of, kinda.

Ps...to make this thread interesting, let's see your vintage plugs.

The Port Special came in 2 models and the model with the wire line harness like you have is very rare. There isn’t much info out there so hopefully with you posting a pic it more guys might jump in and add some clarification or more opinions like mine
I don’t think it was actually made in Port. I think it was a collaboration of 2 tackle makers (Pallister& Tillicum)

Tillicum commercial plugs had the Hanson hook hangers on them and 1 rare sporty model too

Pallister made commercial plugs also but the used there own pat, hardware They also had a bunch sporty models and 1 of there models looks similar to the Port special that does not have the wire line harness.

First glance at the eyes I thought it could be a Chix, but the lip doesn’t match. Interesting bubble on the lip should be a giveaway and where do you tie the line. Does it have like a Martin clip / or hook hanger
on the belly?

Thanks, I will take a few more shots and different angles to help better ID tomorrow. It looks to me like it relies on some kind of quick release type of set up. Thanks for helping.

The line hole goes through top to bottom. I am thinking there must be some form of harness that can release and the plug goes free on the line. Maybe a push in stopper at the lip of the plug?? Never saw one of these before. They came from a 1953 salesman case from Allied Fishing Tackle. Manufactured by Allied Metalcraft Ltd. Powell Street Vancouver BC.

I am not saying that the plug was made by them mostly because it does not appear in the current catalog depicting all the lures they offered that is also backed by the salesman sample case. There are quite a lot of products that look identical to past Gibbs stamped products.

@nootkaassassin you've dog gone went and done it. You got me searching to see what I got. Of course because I own PAL, I had to have some plugs and while I was at it I found a couple more Alberni plugs, a bunch of Tillicum, Hanson, Martin, Lyman, Nelson, chix, Louie and a whole lot more tasty L'il morsels.

Thanks for doing that because I think I now have all my vintage plugs together.

I have an old Tillicum plug I got in a very old rusty sport tackle box at a garage sale. Any idea how I can I tell if it is the rare sporty model or not?

If it's mint in its original packaging it's worth more than one that's beat and without. Generally $5 and up, sometimes more than $100 depending on what the buyer wants to pay. It really comes down to how badly or not you want to sell and how badly or not the buyer wants it. Each collector has their own favorite brand, they value their favorites at the highest level. Trading is common ground in most circles.

Today I spent a few hours organizing my vintage plugs into brands, and higraded a ton. These ones I may refurbish or let go. There certainly is a number of them. I also found lots that I didn't realize I even had. Now at a glance I can see what I have. Yay!
