On the Cow regular guys can buy a drift boat and take there chances, unlike the jet situation on the Stamp. In fact the regular guys make things so competitive on the Cow that there is almost NO guide pressure from Stoltz down because they can't compete with the high calibre regular Joes that regularly drift the river. Besides with no hatchery fish anticipated this year there is nothing to bonk either. Put half a dozen talented regular joes buzzing around the Stamp every day and you wouldn't see the regular photo gallery that gets thrown up on this site as the fishing would get much tougher over there too. I was there when it was open to everyone and it was pretty competitive at times. I can recall days of 15 assorted floating and power craft vessels on the lower stamp so you had to be on your game at all times. I doubt anybody has seen 15 vessels on the stamp in a long time.
Any log jams on the Cowichan from Stoltz to Vimmy??
