2020 Salish Sea Salmon Challenge Fishing Derby - Sep. 5, 2020

The Salish Sea Salmon Challenge is a one-day fun salmon fishing derby hosted by South Vancouver Island Anglers Coalition (SVIAC). The event will be held on Saturday September 5th, 2020 with fishing times between 5:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The derby headquarters and sole weigh scale will be located at Cheanuh Marina.

This event is a fundraiser for South Vancouver Island Anglers Coalition’s Chinook sea pen enhancement projects (e.g. Sooke Harbour Sea Pen) where we successfully released another 650,000 chinook smolts to help feed endangered orcas and enhance local fisheries.

Come on out and have some fun fishing and help support local, community based salmon enhancement - we need your support!

Everyone waits to last minute for purchasing Derby Tix.
You should consider an Early Bird Ticket price for future to encourage early sales. Make is way easier to plan a derby if you have early commitment. $60 per rod early... $75 after deadline.

If you have enjoyed the fishing this August, this is one way you can help out . The net pen project in Sooke has definitely increased your opportunities to catch chinook salmon all the way up the coast.
If you don’t believe in this project fine , just turn in the fin clip chinook heads so we can at least prove a point to DFO.
Btw we need $70,000. each year for operating the pen and tagging.

Yes any 2 Chinook as of Sept 1st...well over 45cm but no slot size.
