I have had both the DE185 and the Malibu 182 so I can tell you they are both great boats. Ride and sea handling is very similar but I think build quality might be slightly better in the Malibu. Of the two, I preferred the Malibu, not for any particular reason but I think it is a better looking boat and I liked the layout of the boat better. Having said that, the DE I had was slightly underpowered (115 Evinrude) and the Malibu was slightly overpowered (150 Mercury 4Stroke) and I'll take overpowered over underpowered any day.
Either way, you will be happy with either of these boats. Good luck.
