Help Finding a Grady 282

What do you guys think about this set? Only 130 hrs. Came off some rich guys boat who never used it. I believe the gen 2 verados are good motors. I'm told they have been serviced and run like tops.

My friend with a 282 called him, he had a different name than his facebook profile. Price he is asking is likely what they were new, but if it turns out they are good with controls it isn't too bad a deal, especially if you can avoid 12% tax.

Price is each. He says he may add fly by wire controls to the sale. Not sure if he would charge more for them. I think at 30k for the pair, with controls, they are a good deal. Could get 10 to 15 years out of them.

They been up for sale for a few months

That doesn't look like a deal to me. I bought a pair of used (230 hr) 2017 300 hp Verados in early 2020 and they were just a bit more than what this seller is asking.

Also, this is one of those cases where I'd be more worried about the lack of use / maintenance rather than seeing the low hours as a great selling point. Engines and other complex equipment doesn't like to sit unused. You might find yourself chasing endless issues that pop us when you least want them too.

I'd be patient if the current power is working and find a better deal.

I agree. To old, way to much money, not enough hours to age of mottor.
You can do better.

Motors were owned by some rich guy I'm told. Regular service with little use... They are going to Parksville boathouse where they will get checked out. I trust those guys. See what they have to say. Those motors new would be 90k with fly by wire installed. Maybe more. If anyone knows of a better option, please send it my way.

New they were likely under 35k installed 12 years ago. If you can buy them privately with controls for 30k and not pay taxes it isn’t too bad a deal compared to new today, but we are starting to see deals on some big motors. Guys are offering 10k for your used motors like yours with 1500 hours right now.

Fellas,

I've noted in a couple other threads. I'm looking for a 282. Been some contenders out there. Made a couple offers and just missed etc. Some of you guys can dig boats up seemingly at will. I'm looking at the usual spots. Boat Trader etc. Would like an 05 with trailer and either low hour or repowered motors. Willing to have it shipped. That said will look at any vintage if it's a good deal. Thanks in advance for any help or info.
I have a 25' Grady White with 2005 twin Suzukis on it- 140 hp 4 strokes. I am contemplating selling- it is on Vancouver Island Port Hardy. Older mid 80's boat but very solid and well maintained. Have to check the Motor hours but I think one has 300- some hours on it and the other has 400-some - ( purchased together but used for trolling so more hours on one) ... I can let you know if you're interested if I decide to sell, Probably looking in the $18,000 US range. Regards- Ed

Got the boat up here last night. Bit of a run around with customs. Pic is sitting at the dock waiting for them to not show up. After the guy on the phone demanded I go there. Love government agencies.

Anyway, boat ran great. Fun stuff. Thanks for all the help and advice on here guys. Cheers.

Wicked! In time for some sorting trips for springs and also get her dialed for tuna. Nice rig. Did you sell the trailer down there?

Still sorting out an issue with the trailer title. We have the trailer stored in Blaine for now.
