Yamaha 115 throttle issue

Finally got to launch the boat today and test out the new engine.
it runs awesome! Gets out of the water in a hurry! Cruised very nice at 30 mph at about 4200rpm.

and now for the bad...

every once in a while (every 5 mins) it slowly starts to back off... and eventually comes off plane. If I go bring the throttle back and then hit it it does nothing, have to put it in neutral and then forward and goes like stink and repeat. Seems like the throttle cable is slipping? When I got home I checked it and there seems to be a little bit of play, pulled the grommet apart and tried to pull any slack out of it and snugged it up “better”... still seems to slide inside the grommet, not as much though. Anybody had this problem?
The cables are in there correct slot in the grommet, what a PITA getting them all lined up!
